A regular mix of open mic, short sketches, and a feature headline show. This month's show is Dry Season by Kat Lyons.
At 38, Kat thought she was still far too young to think about menopause;
her body had other ideas...
Combining original spoken word poetry with excerpts from medical
literature and drawing on interviews and fairytale imagery, Kat takes the
audience on an autobiographical journey through a year of hormones,
mental health issues and unexpected camaraderie.
An intimate, funny, and tender spoken word theatre show, Dry Season
uses one woman’s experience of premature ovarian failure to explore
the process of coming to terms with a shifting identity, and question the
way that aging- particularly the role of aging women- is viewed in
society.
Dry Season was choreographed by dance artist Laura Dannequin, with
later dramaturgical development by writer Amy Mason
