10 December 2020
We are looking for a female voice actor of South Asian heritage, aged 16-20, to read the part of the narrator for ‘Relearning My Name’ by Batool Zaidi and Cassandra Wicks.
'Relearning My Name' is a part-drama, part-documentary piece about the racial prejudices, students endure in the UK school system. The script is based on real experiences and incorporates verbatim interviews with students and teachers – the narrator’s monologue explores her internal conflict with her identity and seeks to challenge the behaviours and aggressions felt in the classroom.
The script is commissioned by Calling The Shots & The BBC as part of the New Creatives development programme and will be distributed via BBC Sounds early 2021.
Fee: A Day Rate of £150 recording at SoCo Music Project, Southampton.
Travel expenses and per diems for the day of recording also covered upon receipt.
Please submit an audio recording of you reading a poem / script excerpt, between 1-5 mins long to email@example.com by 23rd December.
