Story Writing

We were so excited to be back for another term of writing. Everyone shared stories about something exciting they did over the summer holidays, and so quite naturally, we had to write an adventure story involving a campfire and maybe some marshmallows!

Hope you enjoy reading these stories:

Story by Bella:

I sat around the glowing, crimson fire, holding my mysterious, twinkling marshmallow.  I had a galvanising thought: would the power be a curse and not a gift?  The storyteller gathered us round and me and my brother toasted our marshmallows and the sparkles got brighter.

The storyteller said mysteriously, “I think they are ready – do you want to see your power or dread your curse?”  I nodded and so did my brother.  We giggled as we threw them in our mouths as I almost missed!  The marshmallows were soft and filled my mouth like a fantasy cloud.  I gulped it down after my brother and I was bewildered as my brother leapt into the air and shot a streak of starlight across the sky!  I was shocked, my body leapt into the air without warning and my eyes glowed red and everyone screamed.  I fell to the ground and fainted.    I woke up, and I was shaking on the cold floor, I stifled a scream, but I shook off my paranoid trance and stood up. My brother ran towards me, but it took me a second to realise who he was, he didn’t look different, my mind just couldn’t figure it out. He said to me in a shocked tone, “Are you ok?”.

I said yes even though my mind said no.  He suddenly ran and I had no choice but to follow him into this sort of …. cave.  The inside was glowing shades of purple and pink I was mystified. I saw something. There was a glowing potion at the top of an enormous pillar of crystal.

I closed my eyes and yawned and before I could open my eyes, he was halfway up the colossal pillar of rustic stone. I started to clamber up, but I felt the ground shake and I screamed.  The rock split open in front of me and I thought I would fall but instead I stayed In the air, and to my surprise, I didn’t fall. A pair of red wings held me up - they were glowing!

Something fell on my chest, but I caught it in time.  I opened the cap and brother said “drink it immediately!”, so I did.  Suddenly I fell into the gaping black hole of my mind.  I woke up.  The storyteller was sitting beside me, what had happened?

But I put my strange dream behind me and enjoyed my marshmallows.

Story by Stuti:

I clearly remember, it was a bright summer's night when Maria and I were playing with my frisbee. When,

I gave a long throw and it landed in one of the bushes. Maria and I asked Mum if we could go and get it.

Mum nodded her head instantly. Mum never said no for anything. "But be careful !" she yelled after us.

So, Maria and I walked carefully down the forest and followed the clear pathways. Suddenly, I shouted,

"Maria look our frisbee !" "Let's go and get it!", I yelled.

We slowly walked down holding hands carefully, not to slip down the muddy pathway when Whoosh!

Maria and I slipped and slipped unwillingly fast down to the end of a mysterious cave.

"Never mind about our frisbee," I said getting up. "Yeah, but what do we do now?", said Maria wiping the

mud of herself.

Meanwhile, Mum was panicking at the campsite, wondering what had happened to Maria and me. So,

she decided to set off to find me and Maria. On the way, she met a fairy whom she told what had

happened. The fairy gave Mum a power to understand and talk to animals. Mum told the animals she

saw on the way, everything that had happened. They told her what they had seen and with their help,

Mum eventually found us and we were reunited.

Story by Isabella:

Once a peaceful family of four, now a broken-hearted family of three. Tyler, the football addict, Masie the fairy addict and Juliette, Mum and major hypochondriac.

It was supposed to be alright in Texas that day. A broken family making some changes. One frosty day in November, the Smith family went on a camping roadtrip and as soon as they got there, they realised something. There was no food! They always relied on their dad to do that...
After rummaging for hours in every container, Masie found a small bag of marshmallows and made a fire. On the second day, Tyler went out to get some firewood for the other half of the marshmallows. It became 30 minutes;30 minutes became an hour and 1 hour became 4.Masie and Juliette were nervously pacing whilst they waited. Meanwhile, Tyler was walking back he spotted the shadow of a grey fox, a bloodthirsty grey fox. He ran until he found the shelter of a treehouse and climbed up the ladder and fell into a deep sleep.

6 days had passed, and Tyler still wasn't found. Mum and daughter paced until they found the treehouse and Masie was told to climb up and noticed her brothers ice blue coat. He looked so frozen and stiff. He was in shock. She took him outside and was finally reunited but as he got tackled, he noticed a grey fox and saw a bit of blood come out of it's teeth. Just a drop, right?
