Enchanted Picnic and Showcase 2023

Today was SHOWCASE DAY and the theme was Enchanted Picnic. We placed picnic blankets, glowing candles, a hamper, mushrooms and giant strawberries in the Sherling studio all in a little circle around a microphone. All of the Junior Writers that attend read out their amazing work and lots of their grown ups commented with how impressed they were by the standard of their writing and creativity.

We are SO SO proud of all of you and can’t wait to see what you write after your summer break.

Young Writers Showcase:

15th July

Showcase day! Our Young Writers had the chance to perform in Lighthouse’s Sherling Studio, in front of their friends and family. It was a delight to hear everyone speak clearly and movingly. The stories and poems we heard were remarkable. Here’s the running order:

Jasper – The Looking Man

Lucas M – Uninvited Guests

Lily – The Highway Man, Murderous Mermaid and an extract from “Mabel the Witch”

Naomi – Pandora and Alma

Lucas J – Lost at Sea

Jazz – Chapter Two - A.S.S

Jacob – The Pirate Captain and the Volcano

Ella – what was never meant to be there

Matthew – Murder Mystery

Amy – An Extract from Alma and A Witch Called Nymphadora

Luella – The Pottery and Murderer Cruise and Goldilocks

Miriam – An Extract from “Shadows and Thorns”

Lila – The Beginning of “Edith, Posy, and I”

Neave – The End

Everyone – a DADA Poem

What a brilliant end to the term, and to our year! We’ll be back in September with some very exciting plans. In the meantime, have a wonderful summer. Keep writing. We can’t wait to read what everyone writes next!
